I am always on the look out for gifts that encourage creativity. My hope is that my kids will continue to have a love for books and let their imaginations inspire them. We have tried to pull back on the amount of gifts our children receive and instead focus more on the purpose behind each gift. I wanted to share a few of my favorites in hope that these gifts will inspire your little ones as well. These ideas would make great gifts for your children, grandchildren, nieces/nephews, children’s friend gifts, etc.

Scratch and Sketch Art Activity Books
To start off one of my favorite gift ideas this year are these Scratch and Sketch Art Activity Books. These books include 20 black-coated scratch-off art board pages with pages of hidden designs underneath. Kids can keep it simple by tracing the white outlines or get creative and add in their own patterns and designs by the way they scratch off the art. What I love about these books is they work great for almost any age. There are so many fun options to choose from including: Robots, Butterfly and friends, Jurassic and Beyond, Mermaids and the list goes on. There also have some festive Christmas and Nutcracker books that would be fun for kids during the holidays. We have loved visiting several of the National Parks this past year with our family so I thought the National Parks and Landmarks book would be a lot of fun for my son. My girls love everything to do with princesses and unicorns so it was easy to choose what they would love. I have seen a few places around town that sell them but found the best price for them on Amazon ranging from $9.64 to $14.99
The Scratch Art books by Melissa and Doug are very similar. Earlier this year we purchased these art books while on the way home from a trip and they kept my kids busy for the next 4 hours while we drove home. They still love to get them out at home and spend hours making different designs on each page. These fun activity books have so many options to choose from including: Safari Animals, Sea Life, Animal Families. You can purchase these on Amazon for only $4.99. I have also seen them at Target and Walmart.

Next up is the “Me” journal by the Wee Society. This was a gift my son received for his birthday from his aunt and it has been one of his all time favorite gifts. He loved it so much that he has wanted to give it to friends for their birthdays as well. From cover to cover this book is amazing! The pages are so colorful and inspire creativity and reflection. Also, looking forward I can’t help but think what a treasure this will be for my son to look back on in years to come (and for me as well). This book gives kids a very creative way to express their thoughts and answer questions they might not have thought about otherwise. You can find this book on Amazon for only $13.49

The “Go! My Adventure Journal” is another amazing children’s journal by the Wee Society. How fun would this book to give your child right before a trip. They will have so much fun answering the questions and it will help speed up travel time for sure. I haven’t purchased this one yet but plan to pick it up for my kids on our next big adventure.

LuLu Jr. Illustory Book Making Kit
This is one of my favorite creative gifts for kids! The kit includes everything needed for the child to write and illustrate their own full-color, 20 page, professionally printed hardcover book. The “About the Author” feature gives your child the option to be showcased as the published author on the books’ back cover. Next up on the list are the Shine the Light series by Usborne. These are my 3 year old daughter’s absolute favorite books. We read them during bedtime with the lights out in her room and flash light in hand but also she loves to look at them on her own during quiet time. These books have a magical feel to them and with the lights already out in the room I feel like it’s the perfect transition to help my little ones quiet down and get ready to go to bed. I gave my kids each a Shine a Light book for Christmas last year and they have loved them so much that we have purchased additional Shine a Light books for birthdays. Children’s Books
Books are one of my favorite things to give my children for Christmas they inspire creativity and help their imaginations to grow. My parents gave me a book almost every Christmas growing up and would write a special message inside. I still tear up when I read those books to my kids. My daughter’s favorite book is “Uni the Unicorn”. It’s the sweetest book and if you haven’t heard of the author Amy Krouse Rosenthal you need to look up her books. She is an incredible author and the illustrations by Brigette Barrager are just the cutest. I was excited when a sequel recently came out, “Uni the Unicorn and the Dream Come True.” I can’t wait to give this book to my daughter for Christmas this year.
